About Us

The Founder

The GetFiterator is the brainchild of Dave Beck. Dave was an
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for several years, worked
as a physical therapy assistant and studied pre-med for three
years. Around this time Dave got married and decided he wanted
a career that would be more family-friendly and less time
consuming. He had been programming on the side to get money for
tuition and decided to pursue a career in Computer Science.

He earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from
Utah State University and a Master's degree in Computer Science
from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. His Master's work
was focused around pattern recognition and statistical
classification. For his thesis he developed a statistical
pattern recognition algorithm called
Multiple Resolution Non-Parametric (MRN) classifiers. MRNs are
a form of reduced Parzen classifiers.

Dave has been an active weight-lifter, snowboarder,
wakeboarder, hiker, rock-climber and kayaker all of his life.
One day, he and a weight-lifting friend were discussing new
routines and how challenging and time-consuming it can be to find
and/or create effective new routines.

The figurative light bulb went off and Dave figured he could
use his expertise in both the medical and computer science fields
to solve this problem. The original version of the GetFiterator
was developed specifically for his goals and was quite limited.
Over time he began thinking of new features and other people
became intereted in using his ideas. In August of 2007, Dave
decided to make the GetFiterator available to anyone wanting to
get fit faster!

The GetFiterator.com website is designed to provide easy to use tools
for those who are looking to get fit. We will be offering supplements soon,
but for now, please consider clicking on our advertisers to
